NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) — Meeting up with a stranger to buy something can be pretty scary, so the Nampa Police Department has set up a safe-zone for online trading and sales.
"We have designated two parking spaces in the front parking lot that have 24-hour video surveillance for our citizens to use for safer transactions from websites like Craigslist," said chief Joe Huff.
There have been some scenarios that turned into robberies or violent encounters, according to NPD. By recording the situation and putting the transaction in the heart of justice - well, in justice's parking lot - the likelihood of something bad happening would hopefully decrease.
Police recommend taking full-advantage of the trading location.
"We remind citizens to use caution when making arrangements from online websites. Daytime transactions are recommended so that there are more people around," Huff said. "This is another service the Nampa Police Department provides to help make our citizens feel safer when making these types of transactions."
Be smart and stay safe!
