The mantra of making it big in Bollywood is still a mystery and it will always be that way. You never know who will turn into the next big thing or whose fate will take a U-turn. There have been a number of actors and actresses in Bollywood who created a storm with their first film and became overnight stars, unfortunately they failed to continue their winning streak with their following projects and soon went into oblivion. Here’s listing 7 one hit wonders of Bollywood.

Kumar Gaurav

Kumar Gaurav made his acting debut with Love Story (1981) which became an instant hit at the box-office and the success of the film made him an overnight sensation. He had girls dying for him and a bunch of producers lined up for him to put pen on paper. In fact Kumar Gaurav even ticked all the boxes required for an actor to be successful - good looks, charming personality and, most importantly, great acting skills. However, the failure of his next movies at the box-office made sure that he was soon out of the league. Few other popular films of his career include ‘Teri Kasam’ (1982), ‘Naam’ (1986) and ‘Kaante’ (2002) where he shared the screen space with his brother-in-law Sanjay Dutt.

The film was highly appreciated with Rajeev receiving rave reviews for his role. However the actor’s future project failed to rake in the numbers at the box-office which led to his decline.

Bagyashree was considered to be an epitome of beauty and grace at her time. Her performance in Sooraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) opposite Salman Khan made everyone believe that she was the ultimate girl next door. Much to everyone’s surprise, she ended up tying the knot to businessman Himalaya Dassani and that marked the end of what could have been a stellar career.

7 One-Hit Wonders of Bollywood
Rajiv Kapoor

Belonging to a filmy family comes with a fair share of expectations. And the expectations are even greater if you hail from the Kapoors, who are considered to be the first family of Bollywood. Although Rajiv didn’t kick off his career on a high, he tasted success with his father Raj Kapoor’s last directorial Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985). However he decided to graciously step out of the industry after a string of films failed to perform.

7 One-Hit Wonders of Bollywood
Gracy Singh

Before she made her Bollywood debut, Gracy Singh already was a star thanks to her performance in the television show Amanat. Her popularity didn’t go unnoticed as Ashutosh Gowariker picked her to star opposite Aamir Khan in the Oscar-nominated Lagaan 2001. The success of Lagaan did help her earn some offers but she couldn’t manage to hold her position in the film industry. She was also seen in Munnabhai M.B.B.S (2003) opposite Sanjay Dutt.
