ORIGIN
LaVar Ball is an American media personality, businessman, and former football player. He stands 6ft 6in tall and played the tight end position. He’s the founder and CEO of the apparel company, Big Baller Brand (BBB). Ball was born on October 23, 1968, in Los Angeles, California. He has four siblings, LaFrance, LaValle, LaRenzo and LaShon. Ball attended Canoga Park High School where he was competitive in football and basketball. He continued his education at Washington State followed by Cal State Los Angeles.

CAREER
Ball played the forward position on his varsity basketball team at Canoga Park High. He played college basketball briefly at West Los Angeles College and later at Washington State. He averaged 2.2 points and 2.3 rebounds with the Washington Cougars. Ball transferred to Cal State Los Angeles where he averaged 15.8 points and 8.9 rebounds. He also competed in the NCAA Division II. He went undrafted.

Ball played one year of college football at Long Beach City College as a tight end. He signed with the New York Jets’ NFL team as a free agent in 1995. He was then loaned to the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football (WLAF). Ball played professionally for the Monarchs for one season. He recorded 28 yards in kick returns. He also practiced with the Carolina Panthers but never played for them.

Ball and his son Lonzo founded the apparel company, Big Baller Brand, in 2016. They design, manufacture, and sell a variety of sporting apparel and footwear. A partnership and licensing deal with Ball’s BBB was rejected by Nike, Adidas and Under Armour in April 2017. Ball has since upped his asking price for a deal from $1 billion to $3 billion in May 2017. Big Baller Brand debuted their signature “ZO2” footwear in May 2017. The shoe line is slated for release in late 2017 with a base price of $495.

LaVar Ball has an estimated net worth of $4 million. He’s married to athletic director ‘Tina Ball’. The couple first met at Cal State Los Angeles. They have three basketball-playing sons, Lonzo, LiAngelo and LaMelo. Ball has remarked that Lonzo is better than Stephen Curry, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook. He’s also claimed that he could beat Michael Jordan in one-on-one back his prime.
